CGGC Wins the Performance Certificate for E35 Expressway in Pakistan

On August 20, Lot I and Lot II of the E35 Expressway in Pakistan undertaken by CGGC received the performance certificate issued by the owner and the supervising engineer, meaning that the Project has passed the acceptance during the warranty period.

With a total length of 60km, E35 Expressway starts from Hasan Abdal, between Islamabad and Peshawar, and ends in Havelian. Involving the construction of two-way six-lane asphalt concrete road, Lot I and Lot II are undertaken by CGGC in cooperation with GRC and AM, and have the main section measuring 39.6km. As one of the key roads connecting with the trunk line of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, E35 Expressway facilitates the connectivity between China-Pakistan borders and Islamabad, as well as the coastal area in southern Pakistan, which is of great significance for enhancing Pakistan’s national strategic security, strengthening its connectivity with China and improving the regional economic development.

With the contract formally executed in November 2014, the Project is CGGC’s first road project in Pakistan. On March 5, 2015, the engineer issued the official order to commence, marking the formal commencement of the Project.

On December 27, 2017, the opening ceremony for E35 Expressway was held. Then Pakistani Prime Minister Abbasi attended the ceremony and unveiled the expressway. He extended gratitude to China for its support for the economic development of Pakistan, noting that the E35 Expressway Project will drive the local economic development, promote the tourism development in northern Pakistan and benefit about 100,000 local people.

On April 9, 2018, the E35 Expressway received the completion acceptance certificate signed by the owner National Highway Authority of Pakistan, officially entering the warranty period. On August 20, 2019, the owner and the supervising engineer issued the performance certificate, marking that E35 Expressway has successfully passed the acceptance during the warranty period.

The successful implementation of the E35 Expressway Project further facilitates the economic development in Pakistan and helps deepen the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan.
